Engraver, publisher and art dealer. Born in Naples; sent by Ferdinand IV to London as pupil of Francesco Bartolozzi in London (1781-1784). Lster turned bealer and publisher, working with his brother Rocco Bovi. Specialised in colour prints. His 1802 catalogue describes an exhibition room where "on view for sale" were drawings by Lady Diana Beauclerk, Angelica Kauffman "and other Ladies", Paul Sandby, Zuccarelli, Cipriani and Bartolozzi (qq.v.). Also prints on satin, velvet, muslin and calico to be used to upholster furniture; transparencies on calico, paper, etc. (no. 128 is a transparency measuring 10 feet high by 4 feet wide for window blinds); foreign prints; frames. There are more than 240 drawings, none priced. Prices given for prints "in colours", although he notes that they are also available "plain". As well as more than 140 single sheet prints (by Bovi and Bartolozzi) there are five drawing books and two (bound) sets of prints. Trade card in Banks Collection (Banks,59.25) advertises "Mno. Bovi, Engraver & Print Seller. Prints Framed & Glazed. 207, Piccadilly near St. James's Church."
