A red porporine glass snuff box with rounded corners and gold mountings, the hinged cover is decorated with a micromosaic set on copper representing a scene of Roman rural life. The model from which was taken the inspiration for the mosaic is probably a sketch by the roman artist Bartolomeo Pinelli (Rome 1781 - 1835).

The mountings are stamped with the standard hallmark for 18 carat gold of the City of Rome and the maker’s mark of the goldsmith Giacomo Sirletti ( 1755-1837 active from 1811). Period 1820’s.

Dimensions cm 5.3x7.4x2h - the micromosaic cm 4x6.2.

Excellent conditions commensurate with age, hairlines, defects.
