A very fine Italian two layer carnelian agate hardstone cameo representing a young maiden facing left, mounted as a brooch and pendant, in a braided and twisted 18kt tested gold frame with natural pearls.

On the reverse of the cameo is engraved the signature: "1878 F.(ilippo) Tignani engraved Rome".

Dimension cm 4,5 x 3,3 x 1,5h

Excellent condition, commensurate with age.

Filippo Tignani was an hardstone engraver active in Rome in the second half of the XIX cent. 1860-1880 circa., with his shop located at Piazza di Spagna, 10 and later at Via dei Condotti, 91.
